The costume you see here is thrown together with stuff from my closet, since Kuroudou "Dr. Jackal" Akabane's outfit is pretty generic. The commission was just for the hat, which my client couldn't obtain or make very easily. Since I like a challenge, I was all too happy to tackle it.

The hat is a fedora with a really wide brim, so the only thing I needed to do was make the brim of an existing fedora pattern wider. Getting the wide brim to stay up proved an issue and caused me to experiment with a buckram frame and overlaying suede fabric on top of it. After adding a wire around the edge of the brim and making the trademark slit, the hat was done!
